Forgotten Rites Publishing

Forgotten Rites Publishing — standing stones and bonfire at night

The old stories aren’t decorative. They’re maps.

Forgotten Rites Publishing is an indie imprint built on that belief — and on thirty years of Irish Pagan practice, a career spent keeping communications infrastructure running for the State of Delaware, and more hours at Renaissance Faire tables than can be counted with any precision.

Two authors write under this imprint. Two different voices. Both grounded in real mythology and real devotion.

Donald Quill

Donald Quill writes Irish mythology fantasy and nonfiction for people who want the mythology to actually mean something.

The Songs of the Crowmother is a Celtic fantasy trilogy set in mythic ancient Ireland, following the High Priestess Ríona, the immortal guardian, and the broken alliances between kingdoms as something called the Hollowed begins erasing consciousness itself. The Waking Ground is a five-book epic fantasy series about a young woman with hidden Rememberer lineage, a conquered island, and a living compact between people and land that a colonizing regime has spent thirty years trying to erase. And then there’s the nonfiction: Living the Irish Wheel of the Year, The Spring Equinox, and Beltane: Fire at the Threshold — practitioner’s guides written by someone who actually practices.

Blade and Bone: Oath of Steel and Shadow — Oaths of Steel and Shadow Book 1 — D.R. Quill

D.R. Quill writes Viking romantasy. Darker than most. The kind where the mythology has consequences.

The Oaths of Steel and Shadow series launches May 1, 2026, with Blade and Bone. A warrior raised from the dead. A cursed berserker she was sent to betray. A soul bond that makes hiding anything from each other impossible. ARC copies are on NetGalley right now if you want to read it before launch.
